I travel to Nanaimo from the Portland Oregon regularly in my 94 Jeep YJ (One hell of a trip).
Yesterday out in the forest my Omix Ada clutch master cylinder made a snapping sound and the pedal quit coming all the way up. I limped back to Nanaimo and I bled the thing and it sort of worked giving me hope that I might make the drive back to Portland tonight.
Alas, when I got into the Jeep, all packed and ready to head to the ferry, I pushed the clutch to start and heard the dreaded snap again and that was that no more fixing it, it is done...
I had ordered a new master in Portland, that is waiting for me, for only $79! The ones here were $150 for the cheapest and they had a two day delivery! Chrysler had one for $284!
I ideally need an Omix-Ada brand because their hydraulic fitting is unusual (to me anyways).
I was supposed to pick up my children on Thursday - that is not going to happen - but perhaps I can still make Friday if I can get a decently priced new part or find a used part in a hurry.
Questions:
Where to try for 94 Jeep YJ clutch master cylinder in Nanaimo?
(I tried Lordco & Canadian tire they both are two days out)
Where to try for a used part?
What online 4x4 parts stores are there that could get a part to me in Naniamo fast?
Does anyone know what has failed in this part. I have worked with master cylinders before and know hydraulics, feels and sounds like a mechanical failure inside the master. If I remember rightly, the master and slave was replaced about 3 years ago. I have not had enough time to take it apart and "look see". I was hoping to be on the 8:15pm ferry tonight!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a less than co-operative ex-wife and would like to see my kids this weekend.
