dragged the toy out of the garage for the finieded sides picture - i added it at the bottom of this post. Well I got the first new glass side on the bob-tailed 4Runner today. I had to do lots of cutting to get all the rust pop can steel out of the er'. I added a steel bar that runs right behind the new panel and attaches to the stock roll bar here is the first cut I removed 8 inches from the back Here is a shot of the tube I installed behind the new quarter panel. I used a hole saw to cut into the doorjamb area and inserted a long steel bar into the body. I then bolted the tube tot he door jamb. From here I put a cross brace into the stock cage and tied the tube into the rear cage. Here is a shot of the stock length new fiberglass side from Toyotafiberglass.com I cut the panel and re-glassed it from the inside; bondo takes care of the outside seam. The new side is installed with panel bonder and clamped in place - I needed a ton of clamps even vise grips and a few pliers with the handles taped - I thought I had a lot of clamps till I had to do a job like this: So this will be the rig I use for the Rubicon if the weekend works out for me.
