just curious before I attempt this ...
when I bleed the brakes on My D60 calipers the bleeders where siezed so I needed vise grips ,,, now I want to replace the bleeders with new screws ...
if u pump up the brakes like u do to bleed them and remove the bleeder screw then and reinstall the new screw with the peddle still depressed ,,,will that elimate any air gettin back into the brake system? ( just thinkin along the lines as bleedin the brakes)
anyways had time to kill so I thought I would throw this out there

thanks guy ... I wont be able to do tonight ....I will let u know Thursday at the meetin when I might do this ..
I was also thinkin (when I should have been working ) and really no matter what I do , it would be simple to just rebleed all the brakes anyways since all the bleeders are new and just done 2 weeks ago ...
suprising how much better the ideas are after a morning coffee
;D

just do it with the brake pedal in the normal position. then bleed after. will take very little to bleed them if you are quick!

Basically you will be gravity bleeding with the screw out - as long as you do not run out of fluid in the master you will not need to re-bleed your brakes at all - jut check and make sure the top is good and full - or have an extra person to pour the fluid in the top when you are replacing the bleed screws. Easy as that. Al V

Brake fluid is hydroscopic (absorbs moisture) and thus should be flushed at least every 2 years in order to keep the brake sytem in its best possible conditions, as moisture promotes corrosion and does not compress with good results. And Al is correct.

Yes you are right - that is why I have fully converted over to DOT 4 synthetic brake fluid - also doesn't strip paint when you spill and doesn't suck to get on your hands so much. al

The problem with DOT 4 is that any moisture in the system pudles and corrodes from the inside out very quickly as it supper heats the moisture when compressed. That is why DOT 3 is still used.
