It seems some wheelers who use boards to post trips got into some parks trouble. A group of 15-20 trucks got nailed coming out of Little White here in Kelowna. The top of the mountain is not a park but the area around it is. I heard of this when I first moved here that it was closed. It is accessible though logging roads and the road was barricaded but they were pulled out driven over - whatever - we see a lot of that all over on old roads. The trip was posted on FuninBC.com. The parks guys read the post headed up and ticketed everyone they could. Apparently there was a sign posted that says no vehicles - it has been gone a long time - I have never seen it and I go up Little White once in a while
I post to boards as much as anyone else but I never post a trip or say where I am going. I don't even give directions to trials in my magazine anymore unless it is an official off-road park.
Seriously keep this in mind when setting up events and trails. There was also a string on that board about the event I canceled. The group was planning to all come up and watch. I can't even organize an event without these boards sending out the info, location and more and just renegading in to an event that was not meant for spectators.
I will not organize another event just because of this and will do invitationals only. It sucks but these boards spread this stuff like fire and it is detrimental to us all.
I know jo-jo did a posting on this topic when Skirt Mountain was barricaded in Langford on island4x4.com. I wanted to reinforce this in this note. I know lots of board posters are good - but the stuff that flies on that board is bad for us all. Lets keep the rest clean and free of this type of garbage.
Here is the link they set up after the tickets flew. If you would not have seen the first one - which I didn't at first and just read this one what would you think? Seriously scroll through it you will be shocked!
