Just bought myself my first Jeep. 87 Yj, soft top, decent tires and rims. Heard that the tranny and carbs are not preferred....241 K. Ranchos. Tired transfer case. Into doing most of the work myself or with mechanically inclined friends. Where would anyone suggest I start mechanically at this tired gurl for a little offroading?

thats the thing...there are no major symptoms...it just feels a lil tired. Maybe I should just start with a good tune up. I have noticed a slight crack in the engine mount....

Replace the obviously broken items, but a good inspection by a trust worthy mechanic is the place to start. I am a chrysler jeep mechanic in Nanaimo, but if your not from that area try some one local and go from there. We all have tob start some where. Any more questions just post again and I will try to answer.
