Vernon Area - Ministry of Forests ATV trail development.
Found this on the provincial bid website this morning and thought it was interesting. It's a contract tender to develop ATV trails on provincial land in the okanagan. There is $1,000,000 currently allocated to trail network development and an additional $300,000 in the next two years:

"The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations - Recreation Sites and Trails BC, invites proposals from parties interested in providing expert trail and ancillary facility design, layout and construction supervision for a network of environmentally sensitive motorized recreation trails focusing on dirt bikes and all terrain vehicles (ATV's) accommodating a variety of skill levels. The proponent will be required to work closely with, and on occasion, lead discussion within a multi agency, ministry and stakeholder environment having the skills and knowledge to communicate design and construction rationale including integrated resource protection methods and strategies. The proponent in consultation with the area motorized club representatives will also demonstrate how the new trail network will replace a much larger number of user created trails and routes and how the deactivation and rehabilitation of those will be accomplished all resulting in a net gain in resource protection. The proponent will design a network of trails which can be constructed in a cost effective manner but will capture the interest of the user focus group and meet all environmental and engineering standards. The proponent will be expected to fully understand the operational parameters of trail construction equipment including but not limited to a Sweco dozer and techniques required to construct approved motorized recreation vehicle trails.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) is available for immediate downloading at the above links
under supplier attachments."
