Hello, my name’s Rob, I’m from Langley.
I’m currently building a 1982 CJ7 for crawling and general wheeling and was wondering if the combo of part’s will do the trick?
So far I’ve done a 7” axle under lift with kicker shocks and 21” Hecket thorn vertical shocks, A totality beefed upped model 20 rear end (which has been built on a jig, cross tubed, completely TIG welded and gusseted on all the weak spots and running 4.56 gears, A Detroit locker, ME race axles, disk break’s at all four corners, a tru-track in the front end with dropped brake lines.
For the rest of the drive train I’m running a 1970 472cid Cadillac big block, that I’ve just built and tested, it’s making 400 hp & just over 600 pound foot of torque @ 1250rpm with hand made dual 3” 304L stainless steel food grade .065” wall tubing and stainless Flow Master 40 series two chamber mufflers that run straight out the ass end passed the 30 gallon fuel tank. The fuel caps are from a model 56ET helicoptor, theres one on each rear quarter panel .
The power run’s through A rebuilt turbo 400 and on through an Advanced Adaptor’s Atlas4 four speed transfer case (with the 10.23 to 1 ratio) I’m using custom built drive shafts, flat YJ springs, a YJ tub, which has been modified to use the 82’s wind shield, a custom stainless steel dash with Autometer’s (white bezel back ground) gauges, Beard super seats,( in black), the factory fold and tumble rear seat.
For tops I’m using a factory hard top with full hard door’s, or a Best Top Super Top with half hard doors, or two piece Best Top soft doors and a bikini top & duster or the bikini top, duster and no doors.
The front body assembly is that of the 1982 CJ7, but the steering column (from the 1970 Cadillac sedan Deville) is a tilt and telescopic type, brake booster, steering shaft and the BIG GM steering box (which I had Completely rebuilt with the widest stop’s, quickest ratio a reverse worm gear, the most road feel and a 4” drop pitman arm).
This project is almost done, when it is I’ll send you some pictures and talk to you about some good wheeling spot’s
